ZERO TOLERANCE TO NEGATIVE THINKING |

TAKE ENTHUSIASTIC, POSITIVE, AND FEARLESS ACTION
Act only after everything is in
place and ready to go. Don’t move forward until you can do it
with courage, conviction, and enthusiasm. When you are ready to
counter attack, the time for doubt and fear is past. There must
be no wavering or ambivalence in the counter attack.

Wavering and ambivalence will
stop you in your tracks before you even get started. It’s a
mistake to venture out on the ocean of your dreams if you can’t
do it with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

It’s impossible to do anything
when ambivalence, doubt, and fear are in control. I was
involved in a training program in Saudi Arabia in which we
taught people to perform eye surgery. I worked with one
particular aspiring doctor who wanted to be a retinal surgeon.
The problem was he was tentative in everything he did. Every
surgical maneuver was a problem because he continually listened
to the voice of doubt and fear. He couldn’t commit himself to a
single course of action and follow it through to completion.
Operating with him was like a
trip to the dentist; he would drive me crazy as I watched him
flip flop from one surgical approach to another. Needless to
say, he never became a retinal surgeon. There’s no such thing
as an ambivalent surgeon. If you are going to perform surgery
you have to commit yourself to a course of action, and you can’t
do it in a half-hearted manner. You must have a positive
attitude and take fearless action tempered by good judgment.

NEVER QUIT
“Never Quit” is the only way to
make your plan and purpose happen when you encounter setbacks.
The first seven steps are a waste of time unless you take the
final one. When many people encounter trivial levels of
resistance, they quickly decide their dreams are impossible, and
they surrender. That approach never works. You must be willing
to do whatever it takes to make your dreams happen, and “Never
Quit” must become your watch word. When “Never Quit” is your
constant companion, adversity and setbacks are only detours on
the road to your dreams.

In the winter of 2000, we
sailed our yacht nine hundred miles from New Zealand to New
Caledonia in the South Pacific. We waited for nineteen days for
bad weather to clear before we could leave New Zealand. We
sailed through a narrow weather window, heading north on the
nineteenth day. Seas were down to twelve feet and the wind was
down to twenty knots with higher gusts.
We sailed one hundred and
eighty miles north during the first twenty-four hours at sea.
The second day we made one hundred sixty miles north. On the
third day, the weather window closed, and we were captured in a
squash zone of compressed isobars between a low and a high
pressure area. The weather deteriorated as seas piled up and
the wind increased. Before long, the winds were in the vicinity
of fifty knots, and the seas were having their way with the
yacht.
When sixteen foot seas hit the
catamaran, and instantly knocked it six feet sideways, we knew
we were in trouble. We took a beating for eight hours, and
before sunset, it was clear we had to take countermeasures to
protect ourselves. If conditions deteriorated further after
sunset, we would be in major difficulty. We made our decision.
We deployed our eighteen foot diameter parachute sea anchor. We
put the parachute in the water and let out five hundred feet of
one inch rope to tether the catamaran to the sea anchor, and
then we waited to see what would happen.
Although the wind continued to
howl, the yacht comfortably rose up on the gale driven seas once
we were lying to the sea anchor. Adversity was no longer in
control, and the storm was now only a minor setback on our
voyage to the South Pacific. Our actions prevented personal
injury and significant damage to the yacht.
After seventeen hours on the
sea anchor, we were able to resume our voyage north. As we
pulled in the parachute, we felt grateful we had a strategy that
could take us safely through adversity and setbacks. We were
fine and our yacht was fine. We were confident we would reach
our destination.
When you sail the ocean of your
dreams, you will encounter adversity and setbacks. The storm of
thoughts that blow through your mind will threaten to overwhelm
your ship. Nevertheless, if you follow these eight common sense
steps, your sea anchor will hold, and soon you will resume the
voyage to your dreams.

PUMP SOME
SPIRITUAL IRON
When I
jump into God’s ocean of love, my life is never the same. I am born
spiritually and become a new person. Old things pass away, and all
things become new. I look at the world through new eyes and listen
with new ears. I think new thoughts, take new actions, and have a new
life.
God’s
love changes the way I think and feel. God gives me a clean mind and
a pure heart. His love washes the toxic waste from my mind. My old
way of thinking and feeling is gone. My mistakes and failures are
cast into his ocean of love. For the first time in my life, I dare to
call God my Father and live as one of his children. God’s love heals
my damaged emotions, and my negative feelings and guilt are washed
away in a tidal wave of love.
Each day
I jump into God’s ocean of love and have a life transforming
experience. Dabbling in it will never do. This isn’t something I do
just once, and the positive effects last for a lifetime. I must do it
everyday for the rest of my life. There is no limit to how good my
life can become when I open my heart and mind to the power of God’s
love. For as long as I live, I will max out on God’s love.
